Christmas Concert 2016

The 2016 Tolton Catholic Music Department was held on December 13th.  The concert began with the Guitar Methods classes performing in a combined band.  The group played Jingle Bells and O Christmas Tree together and then each member performed a solo (as part of their final for the course).

Next, our very talented pianist, Veronica Tarka played a lovely rendition of Away in a Manger

The Spirit of Tolton Singers were next.  They opened their set with an A Capella version of Carol of the Bells.  Next they sang The Christmas Song and We Need A Little Christmas, before closing out their set with their show choir piece of All I Want For Christmas Is You, featuring a solo by Senior member, Serena Berrey.

We featured our two District Choir members, Nathan Holtmeyer and Serena Berrey, accompanied by Veronica Tarka on piano, singing the song Mary, Did You Know? to close our the choral portion of the concert.

The Blazer Concert Band was the final portion of the Christmas Concert.  The opened their set with the Leroy Anderson piece, Sleigh Ride.  Other songs in their set included a medley of Christmas tunes called Twenty Carols in 2 Minutes, In The Bleak Midwinter, and Bobsled Run.  We ended the concert with our new tradition of Silent Night which featured both the Blazer Concert Band and the Spirit of Tolton Singers.  It was awesome having the audience join in with the singing of this timeless Christmas carol.

Band Performance Tour

On Thursday, December 1st, the Blazer Band and the Theatre Class went on a performance tour of the feeder schools in our area.  The day started off in Mexico, at St. Brendan's Catholic School.  Next the tour moved on to Moberly, MO to St. Pius X School.  After a quick lunch break at Steak & Shake, the tour concluded at Our Lady of Lourdes Interparish School (OLLIS) here in Columbia, MO.   Pictured above you can see the packed house that got to watch the performances.  Talking to some of our band members, they said it was fun to go back to their old schools to show off their skills.  While on tour, band members handed out information to the upper classmen about our numerous program offerings, which include: band, choir, guitar and our new colorguard team.
